-4H- Special systems of measurement platforms

On this page we present a few selected examples of measurement platforms which we constructed and manufactured on customers request. Each place of installation has very special requirements to the platforms and demonstrate the versatility of our construction and engineering performance which we can provide to our customers.

Measurement station in the Wadden Sea of Lower Saxony (Southern North Sea, Germany):

The station is installed (and still in use) at the eastern side of the tidal inlet between the islands of Langeoog and Spiekeroog in the year 2002. The average water depth is about 13 meters.

The pile tube of the station has a diameter of 1.6 m and it is accessible from inside. Below the water line within this pile tube horizontal tubes in different depths are installed which hosts sensors for seawater measurements. These horizontal tubes are installed in main flow direction for an optimal flushing of the tubes with water to be measured.

On the „top deck“ of the platform different sensors for both meteorology and optical measurements are installed.

Data of all Sensors are collected, stored and transferred in near‑real‑time to the database of the operator (ICBM – University of Oldenburg, Germany).

The station is self-sufficient in terms of electricity, which is supplied by solar panels and a wind power generator. The electrical power is stored in accordingly dimensioned rechargeable batteries.

Measurement buoy in the Madura Strait (Indonesia)

We delivered a completely equipped measurement buoy for a cooperative German-Indonesian research project in the Madura Strait (Indonesia). The self-sufficiency is given by solar panels and a wind power generator and corresponding rechargeable batteries.

The installed sensors measure parameters like temperature, conductivity, current velocity, pH, dissolved oxygen, nutrients (nitrate, phosphate, and ammonium) as well as meteorological data. The sensors for water measurements are installed in special designed containers inside the buoy below the water line.
